I didn't know it was St. John the Baptist's day today until my father told me so earlier this morning. We saw young people throwing water packed in plastic cellophanes at passing buses in the streets near where we live. The poor passengers closed the windows but by then they were soaking wet.
I never experienced that tradition of San Juan in my life. I realized that this thing is true not just for me but for most Filipinos, and particularly Cebuanos -- the fact that we are removed from our local religious tradition.
